Speaking to a large audience, D.L. Moody held up a glass and asked, “How can I get the air out of this glass?”
One man shouted, “Suck it out with a pump!” Moody replied, “That would create a vacuum and shatter the glass.” After numerous other suggestions Moody smiled, picked up a pitcher of water, and filled the glass. “There,” he said, “all the air is now removed.”
He then went on to explain that victory in the Christian life is not accomplished by “sucking out a sin here and there,” but by being filled with the Holy Spirit.
I believe that illustration must be preached today as fervently as Moody preached it then… we must gain a revelation of the importance of Holy Spirit!
Are you filled with the spirit of God?
The baptism of Holy Spirit is the key to success in a Christian life today! Have you been filled with Holy Spirit? Are you allowing the infilling of his spirit to replace your vain attempts to remove the “sin” in your life?
You can have victory in this life – if you will simply allow Holy Spirit to transform you instead of attempting to “transform yourself”.
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18
When you think of the word GRACE… what comes to your mind?
Grace… Law… Sin… Forgiveness… the words alone bring forth a myriad of emotionally charged beliefs and statements. grace
Consider this great reference from Dr. Charles Stanley;
“One of my more memorable seminary professors had a practical way of illustrating to his students the concept of grace. At the end of his evangelism course he would distribute the exam with the caution to read it all the way through before beginning to answer it. This caution was written on the exam as well. As we read the test, it became unquestionably clear to each of us that we had not studied nearly enough.
The further we read, the worse it became. About halfway through, audible groans could be heard through out the lecture hall. On the last page, however, was a note that read, “You have a choice. You can either complete the exam as given or sign your name at the bottom and in so doing receive an A for this assignment.”
Wow? We sat there stunned. “Was he serious? Just sign it and get an A?” Slowly, the point dawned on us, and one by one we turned in our tests and silently filed out of the room.
When I talked with the professor about it afterward, he shared some of the reactions he had received through the years. Some students began to take the exam without reading it all the way through, and they would sweat it out for the entire two hours of class time before reaching the last page.
Others read the first two pages, became angry, turned the test in blank, and stormed out of the room without signing it. They never realized what was available, and as a result, they lost out totally.
One fellow, however, read the entire test, including the note at the end, but decided to take the exam anyway. He did not want any gifts; he wanted to earn his grade. And he did. He made a C+, but he could easily have had an A.
This story illustrates many people’s reaction to God’s solution to sin. Some people look at God’s standard–moral and ethical perfection–and throw their hands up in surrender. Why even try? they tell themselves. I could never live up to all that stuff
Others are like the student who read the test through and was aware of the professor’s offer but took the test anyway. Unwilling to simply receive God’s gift of forgiveness, they set about to rack up enough points with God to earn it.
But God’s grace truly is like the professor’s offer. It may seem unbelievable, but if we accept it, then, like the stunned students who accepted the professor’s offer, we, too, will discover that, Yes, God’s grace truly is free. All we have to do is accept it.”
All we have to do is accept it.
I agree with Dr. Stanley, accepting the grace that has been provided seems so easy and simple that we often overlook the power behind the grace!
It’s wonderful, often called scandalous, and it is truly good news!
I often have people ask me to pray that they have more Boldness… Have you ever prayed for more boldness in your own life?
Boldness is something that I have often prayed for as well in my own life. However true boldness comes from a place of confidence – confidence in the word of God and the reality of your identity in God!
2 Corinthians 5:6 says “Therefore we are always confident.”
Boldness comes from confidence, and confidence is something that comes from believing.Command23
Success or failure is often a result of either our confidence or lack thereof.
If you desire to live a life of success then you must understand it is based on confidence of your daily walk and influence in the Kingdom of God.
The Apostle Paul was a person of confidence. He wasn’t always right, but he was sure about his experience with the Lord. All great leaders, workers and teams are built around confidence in self, one another, and our Saviour.
Today, if you seek boldness from God, go back and study the word and find your Godly self-image of confidence and trust in the divine God that we serve!
Behavioral scientists have discovered that we usually see things that we are prepared to see. This is all centered in a network of nerve cells called the “Reticular Activating System.” Everybody has this system.
The “Reticular Activating System.” works like this: Once something has been brought to our attention, and we have been prepared to see it, we’ll see it virtually everywhere we go.
For example, you decide to buy a new car. You make up your mind that you are going to buy a certain brand, a certain body style, and a certain color. Now, you’ll see those cars everywhere. You’ll see them on the roads, in TV advertisements, in newspapers and magazines. They’re everywhere.
Now what has happened? They were always there, but the moment you were prepared to see them, your Reticular Activating System kicked in, and suddenly you saw them everywhere.
It happens in other areas of life, too. We see what we are prepared to see. If we are prepared to see doom & gloom this year, then that’s what we’ll see. If, on the other hand, we have prepared ourselves to see sunshine & opportunities, then that’s what we are going to see.
The covenant of Grace was the responsibility of God… Your “attention” is your responsibility!
Everyday we must decide to walk in the Kingdom of God principles if we are going to experience the Kingdom life!
It’s the deity and grace of God that saves us and enters us in to eternal life… Yet, it’s the principles of the Kingdom of God that align our life into the “Heaven Upon Earth” reality we all cry out for!
To pay attention is to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith as the Apostle Paul penned to the church. Self-examination is not legalism, it is a personal responsibility as a child of God. We are ambassadors of a great King, and as an ambassador we need to examine to determine if our walk is in alignment. Our walk is both the thoughts and the actions, the words and deeds that we live everyday!
“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you– unless indeed you fail the test?” – 2 Corinthians 3:15
How often do we examine our thoughts and actions? As often as needed… And remember to examine from a place of GRACE and glory-to-glory transformation – never shame or condemnation.
Pay Attention and be blessed as a child of the living God!

Well, at least it should be wonderful. In our Phone Counseling and Life Coaching business we all too often see marriage issues leading to separation, divorce, and even at times violence.
Our hope and prayer is that we can lead people to an awareness of where they are in the marriage, and begin a process of reconstruction or rebuilding the relationship. But, that is jumping ahead… So, let’s look at the three levels of marriage closely.
First, this is often called the “Romance” stage – as two people have captured one another’s heart and attention. This period can and usually includes the dating and engagement period. The romance stage is all too often a “time of blindness” where we unconsciously ignore the negative and focus solely on the attractiveness of one another. This stage, unless affected by other past relationships or other deep issues, is usually fun-loving and care free. It is also usually easy to discuss “toxic issues” such as sex, money, and family. This romance stage almost always transforms into the second stage of relationships, which I refer to as the “Reality” stage.
Reality, this is the tricky area. Reality is time when the honeymoon period is over, and the true self emerges. We all too often see the other person “as we choose to see them” during the romance stage, and then the way they truly are during the reality stage. Worse, many times we perceive the person through our own perceptions, based upon the filters of past relationships and personal history. This is where we must take a self-analysis of our walk and expectations from both ourselves and those we bring into our life.
Polarity between the couple can show the major differences, and if not careful can lead to resentment. Resentment is like a cancer of the soul, and this can bring jabbing words of pain or distancing from the couples. This is sadly the reality stage that almost everyone walks in, yet few are willing to leave. This stage can bring the emotional ups and downs for years or even decades. This up and down lifestyle is either tolerated and the person lives in a life of stress, or they end up in divorce.
There is hope however for nearly every marriage. The key to healing a marriage is learning to walk in the stage of “Rebuilding”. Rebuilding may be quick and easy, or it can be a lifelong experience. However, even the process can be rewarding as you go through the journey. Let the journey be an experience, and let love grow through the process.
How do you rebuild?
Sometimes it is simple as self-evaluation and applying grace through the rocky times, and at other times it may include using a marriage counselor or therapist. Most situations can be healed through proper time and loving support.
Where are you on the three stages of life? Are you ready to rebuild and get back to the romance stage?
Seek the Lord for marriage was God’s idea – and he desires peace and love for his children. Seek the Lord and remember love is the key that unlocks the miracles!

As I spend time this morning praying and preparing my sermon for this week I felt a strong impression of ‘Identity Loss’…
Many of the prophets today have fallen into a slumber and in their sleep have forgotten their true purpose and calling in this life. To be a prophet is to be the mouthpiece for the Lord, yet often we see the prophets only echoing the voices of the teacher, the pastor, the evangelist, or the apostle.
It is time to hear the voice of the Lord and the leading of his heart… and stop regurgitating another man’s message!
I was recently awakened in the middle of the night as I was violently regurgitation, yes vomiting in my own mouth, and it was a pretty rough way to wake up! Immediately I heard the voice of the Lord speak to me, “You will no longer regurgitate another man’s message, I will send you fresh revelation!”
Wow. Now, I understand that we all preach (or should at least) from the same word of God. Yet, I believe God was speaking about the prophets of today having an ear to hear HIS voice and revelation in this day. A fresh revelation will have the anointing to change lives and draw men to repentance.
Prophets arise to hear the voice of the Lord that YOU have been assigned to release – and then release it with all of the fire and anointing that is upon your life! You are called and anointed to change lives by speaking forth the word of God! People today need a word from God that is true and anointed!
I pray over you as you read this article, that the fresh revelation of God will fall upon your life and birth forth YOUR message for the world! I believe in you!
