Gold, frankincense and myrrh—these were the gifts the magi presented to the Christ Child when they came to worship Him (Matthew 2:1-2,11) and they had spiritual significance.  The great value of gold made it a gift that was commonly given to Kings.  So, the gold represented Christ’s royalty as the King of kings.  Priests used the aromatic frankincense to burn incense to God during grain offerings and to symbolize the prayers of His people going up to Him like a fragrant aroma.   Therefore, the frankincense represented Christ as the Priest, the mediator between God the Father and man.  Myrrh was used by the Jews to embalm the dead, including the body of Jesus after He was taken from the cross.&…
