Rick Manis is a spiritual encourager, author and speaker, imparting the revelation of the unconditional love and grace of God to individuals and groups around the world. He has written four books and developed a curriculum that leads people to live a life of Heaven on Earth. Rick surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in 1979 after living a life of self-destruction and addiction. He had an immediate awareness of God’s love for him and his unhealthy lifestyle quickly transformed into a life beyond his wildest imaginings. He witnessed miracles first hand of healing, provision, and new life both in himself and in others around him.
Rick attended Rhema Bible College from 1983-84 and became an associate pastor in Oklahoma. He then moved to Titusville, Florida to start his own church, Free Indeed Ministries. Rick and his wife, Teresa, did not know anyone in Titusville so they put an ad in the local newspaper and opened their church in a small storefront in the downtown area. No one came to the first three services. Nevertheless, Rick preached in faith each week to an empty room. During the fourth service two elderly ladies showed up and they began growing as a church. Rick and Teresa visited several local neighborhoods and got to know people, met needs, and invited them to church. The church grew and flourished over the next several years, hosting many community outreaches, leading thousands to the Lord, purchasing a beautiful church building debt-free, and ultimately becoming a diverse body of Christ committed to transforming lives for good.  Â
Throughout his years as a Christian, Rick sincerely wanted to grow and become all that God wanted him to be.  However, in this quest, he subtly veered into legalism and performance-based religion. He increasingly saw his role as one to motivate others to hate sin, break through barriers and become better people for the Lord. In all his zeal, he became burned out and one day told the Lord that He just couldn’t do it anymore.  It seemed as if the Lord smiled and said, “Good,” and then began to pour love and revelation into Rick’s heart about how loved and pleased He was with him. Rick began to see that he did not need to continue trying to become something for the Lord or to follow after revivals and moves of God, but rather that the Lord had finished the work at the cross and all that was needed was for Rick to receive and rest in that amazing love and grace. As time went by, Rick began to notice that the frustrations, stresses, and dissatisfaction of life were no longer a part of his everyday experience. He easily loved God and others because he had received God’s pure love for him (see the full story in his book, Fullness! Living Beyond Revivals and Outpourings).Â
After nine years as lead pastor, Rick turned his church over to his associates and began Rick Manis Ministries, his traveling ministry. In faith, Rick trusted God with this new calling, not knowing anyone who wanted him to speak at their church. He got one invitation to speak for four days at a church in Oklahoma. A pastor who was in attendance then invited Rick to speak at his church. From that weekend on, he has traveled and spoken at many churches and various audiences across the country. His main purpose has been to be an encouragement to those interested in or growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ. He has a unique ability to relate to different kinds of people, within different denominations, and at different maturity levels. Â
Rick’s message primarily centers on the awareness that we have everything we need for fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Jesus taught us about living in the Kingdom of God and loving with a supernatural type of love. This love is the most powerful force in the universe and enables us to live above the circumstances of the natural world and find victory amidst the tragedies and tribulations we encounter in this world. Â
In 2013 Rick lost his first wife to cancer and came to a turning point in his ministry. Rick has a charismatic background and has ministered in many gifts, operating as a pastor, prophet, and faith healer. When Teresa died, Rick turned to his Father for direction. The Lord said, “Get up, Son” and gave Rick a message to preach the following Sunday about Resurrection. It is a revelation that moved him forward into a life of the unknown alongside a Father he did know and trusted implicitly (see the full story in his book, Resurrection! Trusting a God I Knew With a Future I Didn’t).
Rick met Judi online and they became fast friends. They found they had many things in common: a self-destructive lifestyle prior to salvation, a metamorphosis at salvation, the sidetrack of legalistic religion, and ultimately a life-changing revelation of grace. Their spiritual journeys had many similarities. After a month, they decided to meet in person, fell in love and married shortly thereafter. Â
As a single woman, Judi had worked as a professional actor, teacher, and business administrator. She served as a missionary for two years in a rural area of Zambia, Africa. Friends introduced her to the finished work and grace of Jesus Christ after a decade of Christianity. She purposed to receive for herself this grace that she had been hearing/reading about. It seemed so counterintuitive to what she had previously understood about Christianity, but found as she embraced this new awareness in her relationship with the Lord, she found rest, peace and joy in herself and towards others like she had never experienced before. She currently writes a blog (www.beautifulgracenotes.com) and includes her life experiences with overcoming addictions, unhealthy relationships, singleness, depression, and legalism.
Together Rick and Judi travel the United States sharing the good news of the finished work of Christ, who we are and what we have in Jesus Christ, Kingdom living, and the powerful unconditional love of God. They make their home in Winter Garden, Florida. Rick has two beautiful daughters and two amazing grandchildren.
